Article Summary:
As part of product offering for the Energy Controls, the system will generate warnings. A warning is an indicator that something may warrant further investigation as it could be impacting performance. Read on further for more details.
Introduction:
This article will go through how to manage your warnings based on what the warning is and the best action to take.
For information of the warning types see here: Warnings – ArcSett.
Navigation:
In order to view your warnings, you can do this via the panel. Once you are at the panel:
1. Select either the 'Warnings" icon in the bottom middle, or the ArcSett Logo in the top left hand corner.
2. Log in to the control panel using your 6 digit PIN.
(3. If you used the ArcSett logo - click the Logo again and choose activity.)
4. Select the Alerts tab of the activity page.
5. View and action your alerts as appropriate.
Note: You can view the quantity of active warnings without logging into the panel by viewing main dashboard. If any active warnings are present these will be counted and display in a green circle next to the warnings icon. This is shown below.
Understanding Your Warnings:
A warning is generated when your Energy Controls find a discrepancy in your database which needs to be checked to ensure the system is being operated correctly. Once generated, the number of active warnings will be presented on the dashboard.
Once you have access the activity page, the alerts tabs will show all active warnings and faults. For more information on faults click here: Faults – ArcSett.
Here is an example of what the alerts tab will display:
The information on this page will tell you:
- The name of the zone.
- The date/time at which the alert was logged.
- The type of alert: warning or a fault.
- The description will go into more detail about why this warning was generated.
- On the right-hand side, you have the option to supress the alert.
Managing Warnings:
The type of warning will determine the most suitable action to take. See the table below for the suggested action based on the type of warning displayed.

| There is no calendar schedule defined for today. | For this particular zone, there is no day pattern set up in the calendar for today. The system will instead use the default day pattern. | Use the calendar or the schedule builder to assign day patterns to the zone so that the system knows what target temperatures to use throughout the day. For this particular zone, there is no day pattern set up in the calendar in the next 7 days. If not rectified, The system will instead use the default day pattern. | Use the calendar or the schedule builder to assign day patterns to the zone so that the system knows what target temperatures to use throughout the day. | Day pattern index mismatch, expected: [zone] is using: X (Cal. Index: XXX) | The day pattern assigned to this zone on the control panel is different to the one the outstation has recorded for this day. |
Please take two actions. 1. Reschedule the day pattern today for this zone to re-send the information to the outstation. 2. Contact the support team so that we can check the panel database and make sure this has been fixed, and raise this with our technical team for further investigation if required. |
| Over 10 hours of overrides detected for outstation X this week. | For zone X, the cumulative amount of time that an override through the browse screen has been applied is more than 10 hours over the last 7 days. |

Once you have taken action to correct the information in the panel in line with the alert, you can choose to supress it to clear it from the list.
Click the supress button the the right-hand side of the alert and choose how many days you would like the panel to ignore this type of warning for this zone. Once this time-period has passed, the panel will start checking for the same issue. If it's been solved, the warning will not regenerate.
If the problem still persists the warning will regenerate after the suppression has ended and appear in the list again.
If you need to get in touch with us to discuss a warning, please click here.
Validation of Output:
In order to validate if a warning has been successfully supressed you can access the alerts tab via the activity page. If you have supressed a warning it will disappear from the list until the end of the suppression period.
To validate if the cause of the warning has been solved will be specific to the reason the warning was generated and will likely require a manual check at site.
It is important to note that warning will self resolve once the appropriate activity has been undertaken. This will typically occur over night when the system refreshes its information.
