Article Summary:
You can create a new day pattern by accessing the day pattern menu within the zone settings. Simply select to create a new day pattern and configure as required. Read on further for more details.
Introduction:
This article will go through how you can create a new day pattern that can be used for the equipment at site.
A Day Pattern is a group of settings which can be applied to a zone. A day pattern will dictate at what times the equipment will activate and other appropriate settings based on the equipment type. A day pattern is always about the behaviour applied to the zone for a given day (from midnight to midnight).
If not day pattern is scheduled for a zone, then the control panel will typically default to using the default day pattern. Before you create a new day pattern, if may be worth understanding more about the Default Day Pattern.
For more information on day patterns see: Day patterns – ArcSett.
Navigation:
In order to create a new day pattern, you can do this via the panel:
1. Select the ArcSett Logo in the top left hand corner.
2. Log in to the control panel using your 6 digit PIN.
3. Click the Logo again and choose settings.
4. Select Day Patterns.
5. Action changes as appropriate.
Creating a New Day Pattern:
Log in to the panel and access the day patterns screen. This screen will look similar to the visual provided below:
You can create a new day pattern by selecting the '+ New' button. When you do this the inputs will refresh to a blank state and can be amended as per your preference. In order to appropriately configure ensure that you:
- Choose the equipment type (for example - Heating).
- Give the day pattern a name (for example - “Store Heater”).
- Choose a new colour for your pattern so you can distinguish it from others on the calendar.
- Choose the On and Off times (The times between which you want to set a target temperature).
- Note: You can do this by moving the widgets on the sliding scale, or by editing the time underneath the sliding scale. Outside of these times, the target for the heater will be it's fall-back temperature.
- Configure the equipment parameters. For a heating zone this includes setting the desired target temperature.
- Select to add any additional shifts if required.
- Note: This is optional and not required as standard.
- Click Save.
Equipment types:
We have a number of different equipment types available to be configured as part of our controls. For more information see here: An introduction to our energy controls – ArcSett.
Additional Shifts Explained:
If you want to have different target temperatures at different times of day, you just need to add another set point. Click the add shift button, and another sliding scale will appear with temperature choices so that you can add another setting to the day pattern.
You can also set a second shift if there is a break during part of the day where temperature is not required. This will act an energy saving for that period by switching the equipment off when not needed.
You can add up to 5 set points on a day pattern.
Day Pattern Management:
As a point of best practise we suggest to try and amend existing day patterns where possible rather than continue to create new ones. If a day pattern is not in use, this should be updated and used before creating any new ones where possible.
Air Conditioning Day Patterns:
Air Conditioning units typically have more configurable items as part of their day patterns. We will go through a quick example below:
In addition to the typical configuration options, you can set also:
- Set the desired fan speed (high, low or medium).
- Set the mode (Auto, Cool, Dry, Fan or Heat).
- Set the Vane position (horizontal-1, horizontal-2, medium, swing, vertical-1 or vertical-2).
Validation of Outputs:
In order to validate if a new day pattern has been created, simply re-access the day patterns screen and the new day pattern should appear immediately.
