Article Summary:
You can set the control modifier by accessing the zone settings page in the settings. On this page you can expand the control settings and configure the control modifier as required, based on how you want that equipment to behave. Read on further for more details.
Introduction:
This article will go through how you can configure the control modifier via the energy control panel.
The Control Modifier sets the mode of operation for the equipment. Providing the primary objective for equipment.
The typical operating modes for equipment are:
- Heat only
- Cool only
- Auto
- Off
Navigation:
In order to add a new user to the panel (the physical controls at site), you need to have access to the control panel with Site Manager level permissions - see here for more information on permissions: Permissions chart – ArcSett.
Once you are at the panel:
1. Select the ArcSett Logo in the top left hand corner.
2. Log in to the control panel using your 6 digit PIN.
3. Click the Logo again and choose settings.
4. Select Zone Settings.
5. Expand the Control Settings drop down.
6. Action changes as appropriate.
How to Set the Control Modifier:
There are 4 configuration settings available for the control modifier. These settings are relatively straight forward and have been outlined below. They appear as a dropdown when selecting.
- Heat - Heating will only allow the heaters to warm.
- Cool - Cooling will only allow the heaters to blow cold air (if applicable).
- Auto - Auto will allow the system to follow the parameters set and can both heat and cool.
- Off - Off will not let the system turn on.
In the summer, it is worth configuring the heating settings to operate as 'cool' as this will prevent the heating turning on, but will allow the fan to continue to circulate the air. It is important to note that if you have your zone settings set to auto, this will still happen.
If the outside temperature is suitable to heat your site during the summer "off” will prevent it from heating and cooling unless the fallback temperature is hit.
In most scenarios, if you have a planned day pattern set for each month it is worth leaving this setting on auto and letting the system work, as it will only do as set unless fallback temperature is hit.
After accessing the zone settings page you will see a screen like the one below, where you can alter the control modifier settings for each zone:
This is the view for someone with Site Manager permissions. You can see above that the control modifier has been set to 'Auto' for this zone.
You can either apply this to an individual zone (one at a time) or apply it to all zones simultaneously using the 'all zone' toggle seen in the image above.
Validation of Outputs:
In order to validate that the control modifier has been successfully configured you can exit the zone settings and re-navigate to the page. When the page re-loads you will see the control modifier changes have been saved and are now in place.
