Article Summary:
You can apply an override to a zone via a number of methods, the most common of which is by accessing the browse screen and selecting to activate an override. You can configure the time and temperature of the override, before it reverts back to the scheduled activity. Read on further for more details.
Introduction:
Overrides are used to force your HVAC or lighting equipment on or off at times when the management system has scheduled/set them to be off or on respectively.
There are three ways to apply an override;
- Using the Service Code.
- Through the Browse Menu.
- Using an override switch.
Note: The engineer may have installed an override switch onto the outstation. This will look like a round button on the physical outstation. This can be pressed to switch the heater on for a short span of time, or switch it off for a short span of time. This is configured by the engineer whilst on site at the time of installation. It can be disabled by our team remotely if required. If no override switch has been installed then using an override switch will not be possible.

Applying an Override:
Using a Service code:
A service code is designed to be used by a HVAC engineer when servicing the equipment at site. It will allow you to force the equipment on temporarily, typically for 30 minutes, so that equipment can be sufficiently serviced without disrupting the control systems.
For details about using a service code see: ArcSett Day Codes.
Using the Browse screen:
The browse section provides you with a summary overview of the current status of each zone, and provides you with the option to override the current settings to raise or lower the temperature, or switch the zone off.
When you first access the browse screen all zones will display collapsed. You can expand these via the arrows on the right hand side. When you click the down arrow symbol to the right of the zone name, this will give you more information about the zone, including a quick summary of the temperature settings/readings and allow you to apply overrides.
You will also notice that when expanded, you will be able to see at the bottom of that zone an override off and override on button. If either of these are active the circle within the button will be illuminated. The image below shows both overrides are currently not active.
When you select either of the override buttons a pop up will appear allowing you to configure the override parameters. In order for the override to be applied ensure you select the save button. This is highlighted for each button further below.

Override Off Functionality
As well apply the equipment to be on you are also able to override equipment to temporarily to switched off.
In order to do this - click the Override Off button to switch the zone off. When you select this button, a pop-up will appear:
Select the number of hours and minutes you want to switch the zone off for, then click save. Remember - each zone has a maximum override time setting so there will be an upper limit to the amount of time you can set an override for here. An error message will be generated in the number of hours and minutes you choose exceeds the limit set.
Once applied, the override off light will be green, and an override box will appear on the browse screen:
To disable the override, simply press the button again and then click remove override.
Override On Functionality
If you want to override equipment to temporarily be switched on or target a different temperature this can also be done via the browse screen.
Click the override on button to switch the zone on (i.e. turn the heating, cooling or lighting on). When you select this button, a pop-up will appear:
Select the number of hours and minutes you want to switch the zone on for, then click save. Each zone has a maximum override time setting so there will be an upper limit to the amount of time you can set an override for here. An error message will be generated in the number of hours and minutes you choose exceeds the limit set.
Once applied, the override on light will be green, and an override box will appear on the browse screen:
To disable the override, simply press the button again and then click remove override.
Scheduled Overrides can only be applied by those users who log in with a panel pin.
The panel records when an override has been applied to a zone, and you can see this information in the override chart.
Validation of Outputs:
In order to validate if an override is correctly working via the browse screen, you can simply refresh the page. A refresh can be done for each unit of equipment via the icon in the top right corner (next to the ID number). When you complete a refresh any active overrides will be showing via the outputs display. Additionally the respective override off and override on buttons will be illuminated as per their status.
