Article Summary:
This article will discuss how you can apply an exclusion period for when door switches are actively working with the heaters. This can be done via the door switch exclusion page in the zone settings where you can select the day of the week, the start time and end time of the exclusion. Read on further for more details.
Introduction:
Door switches are installed as standard, as part of our energy controls as they are a very effective savings strategy. They work by switching the heating off while roller-shutter bay doors are open. This strategy encourages workers using the door to close as soon as they are able to ensure the heating is switched back on, resulting in the minimising of heating while bay doors are open.
A door switch exclusion period, is essentially a period of time that can be set, where the outstation (which controls the heater), will ignore the fact that the door is open. This is useful if there is a critical time the heat needs to remain on while the door is open.
Note: We do not encourage the use of door switch exclusions as they go directly against the saving strategy. Only use when absolutely critical.
Navigation:
In order to add a door switch exclusion period you will need to access the control panel. Once you are at the panel:
1. Select the ArcSett Logo in the top left hand corner.
2. Log in to the control panel using your 6 digit PIN.
3. Click the Logo again and choose settings.
4. Select the Door Switch Exclusion option.
5. Action the changes as appropriate and outlined below.
Applying a Door Switch Exclusion:
You can apply a door switch exclusion by navigating to the settings of the panel. In the setting there is a menu called 'Door switch Exclude'. When you select this menu you will be presented with a page where an exclusion zone can be configured.
Please see the example below:
On this screen you must first, select the applicable zone. Note that if there is no door switch configured with that zone then the option will not appear.
You can then select a start time and end time on a given day of the week. To ensure that this exclusion is applied be sure to tick the 'active' button on the right hand side. This will remain active every week until it is switched off.
You can apply up to 2 exclusion zones per day. This is done via the second column on the right hand side.
Validation of Outputs:
You can validate the changes made on the door switch exclude screen by:
- Re-accessing the door switch exclude screen to see if changes have been saved. You will know if the change is scheduled to be on/off based on the active button on the right hand side and if this is toggled on. You will also have the start and end times as per your requirements.
- You can also validate the performance in practise by going to the heaters at the exclusion times to check if they are powered on and working.
